PURPLE AND GOLD

I just got back from LAKERS / JAZZ / GAME 5!!!  I was on campus, eating lunch, when Kiyoshi called me to ask if I could watch the game tonight.  I thanked him, but apologized and said I had to work tonight.  He hung up.. Then he called back and said “just to be SURE you understand me.. do you want to watch the game tonight.. AT THE STAPLES CENTER?!?”

(That’s when things changed.)

1 phone call to work, a wardrobe change, and 15 happy dances later.. I was pop locking in the VIP Arena Club restaurant with my mom, dad, and Kiyoshi.

Please understand.. I dream in purple and gold.  And before tonight, I hadn’t seen the Lakers play at Staples Center.   In fact, I hadn’t seen the Lakers in real life since Magic un-retired.

Basically, every minute or so.. I elbowed my mom and yelled CAN YOU BELIEVE WE’RE HERE?!?!!??  Naturally, I barely have a voice left.  I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

The outfit.. yes, my sweats are from 1991. And Kiyoshis got mad photoshop skills.

Lakers 107, Jazz 96.

Lakers 107, Jazz 96.

AMAZING just happened!

AMAZING just happened!

Other highlights:

  • They showed Dustin Hoffman on the jumbo-tron.  He stood up, cheered, and made out with his wife.
  • They also showed Diddy on the jumbo-tron.  Fans cheered, and then there was a resounding BOOOOOO.  No idea why.  Diddy looked so sad/confused, and then held his hands up like “what’d I do?”

The entire Staples Center was ignited with team pride.. I loved it.  All because my uncle forgot he had to go to some big shot fundraiser (so he couldn’t use his Laker tickets).  I’m extremely grateful that my uncle is THE GODFATHER.  Oh, and the Lakers kept the Jazz under 100. 🙂

I’ve been somewhat off the blogging hustle, mostly because this week and next week I have all of my huge projects and final exams.  This is the life..

Anyway, no excuses.  Top 5 plays of the weekend:

-Eating taquitos at Cielito Lindo with my TCS fam.

-Watching a stage reading of Domestic Crusaders.. I can’t wait for the full production to come to LA!

Open gym.. right after watching that Bulls/Celtics game.  Wow.

-Boogie time at e3rd with some of the AC fam.

This lady at the Container Store made me re-open the change drawer because the $10 bill I gave her was too wrinkled.
Anyway.. a few pictures and a video:

Man, it seems like all the cool kids are getting married this year!  Yesterday, we celebrated with Marika & Greg at the Beverly Hills Hotel.  Yes, security let us in.  The ceremony was beautiful, and the reception was quite the Beverly Hills production.  I ate and drank everything they had to offer.. because who knows if I’ll ever see that kind of stuff again?!

I saw Craig David & Tatum Jones at The Mint last night. Yes, Craig David. The crowd was filled with 30ish-year-olds who were acting like they were back in high school… I LOVE YOU CRAAAAIIIGGG!!!  (It was awesome)

The venue was perfect.. nice and intimate.  Craig David was accompanied by a guitarist.  He worked the crowd really well, he sang all of our old favorites, and man… he’s still got the voice. Wow.

Oh, and we were thisclose to the stage. 🙂

Basically.. he killed it.  The entire crowd was singing along with every song.

Tatum Jones came along at 10:00 and gave us their acoustic set.. Beautiful.

My girls.. a little fuzzy :(

Craig David – Don’t Love You No More (I’m Sorry) (Live)

All in all, it was an excellent evening.  In fact, it was the most fun I’ve had at a show in quite a while.  I love it when the crowd is full of love instead of hate hate haters.  Plus.. it was CRAIG DAVID!!!! 🙂
