I totally forgot all about this, but AD just IMed me and I rewatched the whole thing..

U-Min is a crew from Japan.. and they’re better than you.

Wowww @ Quest Crew’s week 7 performance.  My two favorites are in the finals (yesssss), and QC clearly outperformed EVERYONE else in the building.

I like that Shane gave credit where credit was due (re: dude being buff w/ the shirt off).. but my Asian brothers have been ripped for as long as I can remember.. the tv people are just finally putting them on the air!  Here’s to the movement..

Talk nerdy to me.

Hahahaha oh man.. This picture is incredible.  It literally put me in the best mood I’ve been in all week.

The hypothalamus is my favorite.

Stephon Marbury is a Celtic.

Reunited, and it feels so good..

Full story here.

Who would have thought?  I bet there are millions of people out there who will be pissed if, at the end of all of this, he gets a ring this year.  Personally, though, I just really hope that this new environment will help him to make the changes he needs to make.  I’m excited to see how this pans out.

Despite what everybody else says.. and despite all past and present evidence pointing to the contrary.. I have, and always will be, a believer.  It’s probably because I fell in love with him way way way back then.. and I don’t give up on people too easily.

Sigh.. they grow up so fast.

I have to confess, family.. I’m hurting tonight.

Love is a helluva drug.

Being human’s hard.  Here’s to being mature/healthy in 2009!

Cook Classics!

Heyyyy, check out Hip Hop Official’s artist of the week!  It’s Cook Classics, a.k.a. one of my favorite (now) L.A. music people.  I’m proud to say that we went to college together.  There I go, being vicariously cool again.

Download THE NEW CLASSICS here.

I love that the LA squad is finally getting the credit and attention they deserve.  Goooo team!!

This is kind of how I’m feeling tonight.  I’m so over this whole ‘midterms’ thing.

I get high off of good grades.

Meanwhile, the CunninLynguists made a song for their pals who get high on other stuff.

Check out the music video for Never Come Down (The Brownie Song).

Anyway, I’m gonna get back to my stash of… study guides.  Huge exam tomorrow, so leave me alone!  You talk too much, you’re ruining my high.  🙂

Donate your prom dress!

I figure if I can revisit some old prom memories.. then so can you.

The Santana House Youth Action Center is holding their Second Annual Prom Hook-Up.  Here’s some information on how you can help!

Senior Prom is almost a right of passage in this country: the hair, the make-up, the nails and of course the dress! But many high school seniors in East LA might not attend their Senior Prom this year because buying all of these items is just too expensive. Luckily for these girls, the Santana House is having their Second Annual Prom Hook-Up and you can change all that! We are working with local businesses, organizations and individual donors to provide over 100 girls at 4 local high schools with everything they will need from hair and make-up to dresses and jewelry.

Ways you can help:

1. We need your new or lightly-used Prom Dresses! We want dresses you are no longer need, including bridesmaid, prom or other formal dresses that high school seniors in East LA might want to wear to their Senior Prom. All donations are tax deductible and will make the difference in a young girl’s high school experience. We are hoping to have all dresses in by March 25th. Dresses may be dropped off at: 1721 Griffin Ave Los Angeles, CA 90031 (see attached map for details, it can be tricky) Or if you would like to arrange a pick-up, please feel free to call Anne Marie: 323.221.4131 x 170

2. Pass this email onto friends or colleagues you think might be interested in contributing.

3. If you are interested in supporting the prom event but do not have any dresses to contribute, a monetary donation would be utilized to help make this event a success.

More about the Santana House:
The Santana House Youth Action Center in Lincoln Heights was created by teens for teens as part of the Violence Intervention Program, with a mission to involve young men and women in the leadership capacity to build positive futures and prevent violence in their own lives, homes and communities. The center provides a safe space for teens to study, be creative and socialize without many of the worries that plague them in the real world, such as gang violence.

Santana House programming is shaped and monitored by a Teen Board of Directors and includes:
Urban Art: Art Instruction taught by an LA muralist
Learning in Full Effect: Assistance with college applications, resumes and homework
Sound Art: Music instruction and band practice Street Poets: Spoken word, writing and poetry group
